Night ambience on the internet is often a city: cars, a siren, a dog. Those date the recording and yank attention. This loop is countryside crickets (CC0, Freesound, pblzr). High-frequency, steady, no aircraft. It is the late-hour texture in the StudyBuddy set — useful when rain would keep you waiting for thunder that never arrives.
Crickets can turn sharp at high volume. Start low. If the chirp pattern starts to pulse in time with your heartbeat, that is a sign to switch to wind (low, no insects) or fire (indoor). Night is not a sleep story. It is a bed for a 11 p.m. problem set.
